Hormonal Therapy

The cancer patient’s journey

Hormonal therapy is treatment that is aimed at hormone dependant cancers, such as breast or prostate cancer. These types of cancers require sex hormones to grow and spread. Treatment is aimed at depleting these hormones, thus “starving” these cancer cells from their required nutrients. This therapy can be delivered by either intramuscular injections or orally in the form of tablets. This therapy can continue for multiple years. It can also be given initially in conjunction with other forms of therapy such as chemotherapy and surgery.

Your treating Oncologist will discuss these options with you if applicable. For more information please visit https://www.cancer.org.
